Last week, I felt I had an inner conflict for which workout to post for 2/20. Steve Irwin, whose birthday was February 22nd, or a pet-themed workout. Last Thursday was actually Love Your Pet Day, and I thought it could be a lot of fun to do a workout centered around your pet.
The past few weeks we’ve had some fun with Joss Whedon and celebrating his contribution to the world of sci-fi, girl power, and geeky/nerdy fandoms. Three weeks, and three Tabatas. You’ll be pleased to know this week, I’m not doing a Tabata. No, no, a high intensity interval training workout with only four movements can’t cover all the awesome that is in this week’s workout. We have to create something…bigger.
A couple weeks ago while working on my YouTube series “Healthy You, Healthy Earth”, I started discussing a topic which I realize I haven’t covered too much before. We all focus on the tangible concrete actions to take when protecting the environment, not many realize how important the EMOTIONAL side of conservation is. Read More “Passive Conservation”
Saturday is the birthday of a great personality and animal lover who inspired a generation of zookeepers and conservationists. Steve Irwin would be 58 years old. We lost him way too soon, but I feel somewhat fortunate that his legacy lives on in his children and the Australia Zoo. Read More “ZooFit Workout of the Day- 2/20/20: Steve Irwin”
In the last Tabata in the Joss Whedon tribute series, I want to celebrate my own personal favorite Joss Whedon creation. Yes, yes, I adore Buffy for being a lead kick-ass female character in a time female kick-ass characters were few and far between. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so it’s the perfect time to celebrate our loved ones and our love for ourselves in a special partner workout.
Last week, I shared the first of three Joss Whedon universe workouts, inspired by Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. This week I’m dredging up another old Whedon television show that sadly didn’t last nearly as long as fans would have liked. Sunday was a crazy day here in America. It was Super Bowl Sunday…also known as Superb Owl Sunday in zookeeper circles (and really, I have to just take a moment to thank all my zookeeper friends for their absolutely SUPERB owl photos they shared on social media. I didn’t waste nearly enough time looking at all the fluff and cute). Read More “ZooFit Workout of the Day- 1/6/20: Groundhog 2020”
Because I attended NerdFaire and caught the Fandom Fitness bug while there this weekend, I have decided to dub February “Fandom Fitness Month”. Every Tuesday this month I’ll be sharing a fun Fandom Fitness workout. And we’re going to center it around a particular individual this month, the incredible Joss Whedon. For the last workout of January, I wanted to give everyone one final version/modification for the Conservation Hero WOD I posted at the beginning of the month, Running the Zoo. Read More “ZooFit Workout of the Day- 1/30/20: Rowing the Aquarium”
